We are presenting the project Reconstruction of the part of the local road Crkvicko Polje – Nikovici
Project "Reconstruction of the part of the local road Crkvicko Polje-Nikovici" was financed by the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro within the IPA Grant Scheme for 2008 and 2009 for the development of municipalities for minor infrastructural projects.
Total value of the project was 789.806 Euros. Delegation of the EU funded 74%, or 584.457 Euros and the Government of Montenegro funded 20% (157.961 Euros), remaining 6% were funded by Municipality of Pluzine.
The project lasted for 33 months. It was originally planned that its implementation finishes earlier, but the short construction season in the far north of Montenegro, poor weather conditions and high snow burdens, prevented constructions during most of the year. The project was completed in October 2013.
Main objective of the project was to create better conditions for socio-economic development of the region through the development of infrastructure in the Municipality of Pluzine. Reconstruction of the road Crkvicko Polje-Nikovici significantly improved road infrastructure, which further contributed to the increase of mobility of the local population, tourists who are increasingly visiting this region of Montenegro and it was important for entrepreneurs which are providing touristic services.
In addition, the safety of traffic participants is significantly improved. The quality of local road infrastructure and transport facilities in the area are improved, which also had the impact on the improvement of the overall quality of traffic network of the Municipality.
Road reconstruction was made within all EU standards, and by using modern materials and construction methods. The local utility company, as well, can much easier maintain the road, especially in the winter months and at the reduced costs.
Inhabitants of the Crkvicko Polje and Nikovici, as well as those surrounding villages, were ensured conditions for improving the standards of living and working, better transport, mobility and increasing tourist activities, but also creating markets for local agricultural producers.
Tourists, on the other hand, have the ability to enjoy natural beauties of the area, and tourism service providers have become interested to invest, since the improved road infrastructure is a prerequisite for the development of tourism.
This part of the road is very attractive for tourists, because it leads over Durmitor to Tara Canyon and Scepan Polje, the location where rafting routes start and it is an alternative travel route to highway M18, which leads from Montenegro, through Scepan Polje, to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is during the winter, often blocked due to snow conditions.
This project shows how infrastructural projects are important, and that through their improvement, it is possible to create new business opportunities and chances.
