What are you working on right now?
- I'm working on the paintings which represent particular, nice events in somebody's life and grateful to the saints. This time it's represented through the catholic religion and how that believers represent that specific emotion with all its symbols. These paintings are called retablo. It can be used to represent those emotions from the perspective of any religion. I've seen some Indians do the same thing. These paintings are, basically, a picture with the subtext; it looks almost like a picture from a comic book. Paintings that I have made since I arrived to "Community Art Centre" represent some stories that I've heard here, in Montenegro. Since I spent some time in Herceg Novi before I came here, there are many things your country that inspired me. It is important to represent those reflections.
How do you spend your day?
- Residents here mostly come around 9 or 10 o'clock in the morning, work all day, and then go back to the hotel. Here are all kind of artists - composers, sculptors, painters, designers - and we are influenced with each other a lot. There is a great amount of creative and positive energy down these corridors. Everyone is in hurry, going up and down, working, and discussing our work often. It's a great thing to be here, and here's also a lot of fun.
Did you meet some of the Montenegrin artist that is not a part of "Dukley European Art Community" project?
- I met some artists from this area. I was quite surprised with their interest for the project. They are willing to help us.
What are the visitors' prospective of "Community Art Centre"?
- People came and asked about the project, but I think there should be more of them. Visitors were not that familiar with the project and a lot of them didn't even know what is going on here. And still don't know. This is something new and people should be able to get to know this better.
Saša Makarska je još jedna ukrajinska umjetnica koja ovih dana boravi u "Dukley Art Center" u Kotoru. Ona pripada rezidentima koji su okupljeni u okviru jednog od umjetničkih projekata "Dukley European Art Community".
Na čemu trenutno radite?
- Pravim slike koje predstavljaju lijepe događaje iz nečijeg života i zahvalnost svecima na tome. Ovog puta su to konkretno simbolične predstave vezane za katoličku religiju, kako katolički vjernici zahvaljuju svecima. To je retablo. Na isti način može biti predstavljena posvećenost vjernika bilo koje religije. Vidjela sam, recimo, neke Indijce kako prave istu stvar. U suštini je to slika sa tekstom koji je ispod njen napisan, nešto slično slici iz stripa. Ove koje sam uradila u "Comunity Art Centre" predstavljaju crnogorske priče koje sam čula. S obzirom na to da sam boravila u Herceg Novom prije nego što sam ovdje postala rezident, već sam prilčno inspirisana vašom zemljom. Mislim da je bitno da to i izrazim.
Kako izgleda Vaš dan?
- Kao i većina rezidenata, uglavnom dođem oko 9 ili 10 časova prije podne. Radim čitavog dana i uveče se vraćem u hotel. Ovdje borave različiti umjetnici - kompozitori, vajari, dizajneri, slikari - i dosta utičemo jedni na druge. Postoji velika količina pozitivne, kreativne energije u ovim hodnicima. Svi žure gore-dolje, rade i često razgovaraju o svojim novim djelima. Dobro je ovdje, a i veoma zabavno.
Da li ste susreli neke crnogorske umjetnike koji nisu dio projekta "Dukley European Art Community"?
- Upoznala sam neke umjetnika sa ovih prostora. Bila sam prilično iznenađenja njihovim interesovanjem za ovaj projekat i željom da nam pomognu.
Kako posjetioci "Comunity Art Centre" prihvataju ovaj projekat?
- Ljudi se dosta raspituju o projektu, ali mislim da bi trebalo da ih bude više. Projekat nije toliko poznat i dosta njih nije znalo o čemu se uopšte radi. Ni sada ne znaju. Ovo je sasvim nova pojava na ovim prostorima i ljudi bi trebalo da se sa time upoznaju bolje.
